I take 20 mg of Citalopram a day for anxiety/depression. If I'm experiencing a high level of stress, though, it seems like the 20 mg is not enough. Obviously I'll talk to my doctor about this, but in the meantime, what are some things that I can do to relieve the extra stress/feelings of panic?
Can I take an extra pill? Or drink a certain tea?
Thanks guys!
when I took medicine for anxiety I was prescribed a pill to take on especially bad days to calm me down quick and when I read what it was, all the pill was was an antihystamine tablet ( Benadryl) So now if I ever get real panicy or have a hard time dealing with anxiety I just take a white and pink benadryl pill and it helps me calm down.

Eating more fish with omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, sardines) and drinking chamomile tea helps me a lot. It also helps to just walk. Walk at least 40 minutes a day at a moderate pace. It's very relaxing.

yoga. Breathe in and out through your nose. Works at relieving stress. Works wonders. Also drinking herbal tea of any flavor helps. Even black or green tea.

After talking to your doctor or at least your pharmacist to see if there are interactions with your regular medication, I'm thinking that is generic celexa isn't it? You could use kava kava tea or valerian tea. Do not take an extra dose unless your doctor okay's it. He may want to give you another prn medication with it, please talk to him or least the pharmacist before taking the tea though.

Hi,
You are the only one who can calm yourself – but before you can do that, you need to get to know yourself. Try this – it doesn't cost you anything and you might learn something about yourself.
You need to make a decision – do you want to be calm and worry free? If you do, then make the commitment to yourself that you will live your life calm and worry free. Without that commitment, you will stay in the mode you are in.
Then re-focus your attention. Remember a time when you did something you thought you couldn't or when you helped someone and you felt awesome? Remember how you breathed? What you thought? How you felt? How you stood (posture)? Practice getting yourself in the mode; get yourself in that mode as often as you can. Stay in that mode – that is your confidence mode.
Then get a mirror, look yourself in the eyes – and ask yourself – what do I know about this person? Who is this person? What do I like about this person? What makes this person happy? What can I do to make this person in the mirror love me? Can I give him/her a gift? Do I need to spend some time with her/him? Does this person need hugs? Does this person enjoy helping others? What do I need to say to this person for him/her to feel loved? Really think about those questions and find an answer. Focus your thinking on finding answers to those questions. While you are trying to decide, find someone you can help – some one you can be of service to. Best Wishes!
